Traditional household cleaners contain some pretty toxic ingredients, but they leave your home with that clean (and chemical) smell. When my children were young, we switched over to eco-friendly products a few at a time. I wasn’t one of those wise women that knew how toxic may traditional products where but thankfully I was one of those mommas that read. After personal care products, the next step on our list was household cleaning products.

A few manufacturers of household cleaning products have begun disclosing the chemicals in some of their products. S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. last month rolled out Web site WhatsInsideSCJohnson.com to describe most of the ingredients for its Windex, Glade, and Shout brands. Clorox Co. lists ingredients for its Formula 409 and other products at TheCloroxCompany.com.
