We have a microwave. It is really old, and it is temporary until we (someday) update our kitchen and install a newer one. Since I have been using this tiny, slow-cooking one for a year now, I have found I don't use it much. I occasionally use it to warm up leftovers (in glass), but I have now learned to steam on the stove. Don't ask me how I didn't know before, but steaming veggies is just as quick and I think that the veggies don't get rubbery like they do if you overcook in the microwave.

Eventually, I know I'll go back to using my microwave, but it has been nice to learn other ways to cook too!

Thanks for your comment Gwynne. Like you, I try to cook from scratch as often as possible. I haven't found a good way to heat leftovers aside from the oven but since I'm in Arizona and its summer, I try to avoid using the oven very often hehe.

Hoping to meet you at BlogHer. :)

I have a microwave oven. I question the safety of it, but then again, I tend to question the safety of everything :)

To help minimize the danger, I have a very small microwave, and only use it when I can't use various other cooking appliances in my home. I don't have a stove/oven, but I do have two rice cookers, a bread machine, an egg cooker, and a roaster oven, and since I try to cook from scratch as much as absolutely possible, the microwave is often the last to get used!
