2009 College FilterForGood Eco-Challenge

Details about the 2009 College FilterForGood Eco-Challenge have been released. The program is a collaboration between Brita and Nalgene to encourage people to adopt reusable water bottles instead of landfill overloading disposable plastic bottles.

“Tired of all the trash on your college campus? Wish there was a water conservation program in the dorms? Now’s your chance to make a difference! Brita is challenging college students nationwide to put their environmental passion into action and develop programs to green their campuses.”

The application deadline is October 30, 2009 and winners will be announced in January 2010.

While I was at BlogHer ’09 in Chicago, I picked up one of the Nalgene bottles from Siel (aka GreenLAGirl). When I first got it, I was a little concerned that it wouldn’t be as sturdy as my SIGG and Klean Kanteens are. I have kids…kids can be rough…you know the drill. Surprisingly, it’s lived through a few drops onto the ceramic tile floor (while filled). Now I don’t recommend dropping yours to see if it holds up but I just thought I’d share my personal experience with the product.
