What’s Your Green Family New Year’s Resolution?

Happy New Year!

Today is the day that millions of people around the world make a New Year’s Resolution. Losing weight, eating healthier, and working out more regularly are some of the more popular resolutions. I asked a couple of green bloggers what they’re green family New Year’s resolutions for 2010 will be and this is what they had to say:

Bethe – The Grass Stain Guru
To continue to beat the #playoutdoors drum to get parents/caregivers to focus less on expensive toys and structured activities, and to let their kids play outside and just “be kids.” My wish for 2010 is time for families and individuals to have time to reconnect with nature, use their outside voices, and get some grass stains!

Wendy – My Green Side
I’m resolving to make it a priority to get our family outdoors at least an hour each day. We do a great job of this when the weather is nice but I’m finding that it’s a little more challenging during a Fargo winter!

This year I’m going to plant a garden. I wanted to do it this past fall but was intimidated but I’m just going to have to take the plunge. The kids and I will get out and plant some of our favorite vegetables and keep our fingers crossed. I’m also resolving to find more outdoor activities that the whole family likes that we can do in the middle of the nasty Arizona summers!

my resolution? -cycle more!!! E-cycle all my electronic junk, free-cycle anything I haven’t used, touched, or looked at in the past 6 months, and visit the local recycling center. They have tours! I’m excited ;)

Hi Melissa, I’m ready for you to get going in your garden – I’ll be what help I can. Just start small.

In 2009 I focused a lot on greening my family’s food habits, which went well. For 2010 I’m looking to further green the family cleaning. Spending time outdoors is a continuing effort for me too – gardening and walking help the most with that.

I haven’t even started on my goals for 2010 yet. LOL I have an idea in my mind, but nothing written down yet. This year came so fast!

Great resolutions – I am also hoping to -cycle more. Alison, green cleaning was one of the first things I did (after greening the baby care items) – good luck!

Summer – the year is still young, you have plenty of time. :)
