Alex – 0 Fish Creek Bush – 1

Post image for Alex – 0 Fish Creek Bush – 1

A few weeks ago the kids, my dad and I took off for a day trip across Arizona’s Apache Trail. We stopped at the bottom of Fish Creek Hill (the kids were worried about seeing Hacksaw Tom) and wandered around a bit. Alexander decided to get into a little fight with a bush and as you can see from the photo, the bush won.

Alexander handled the scratches like a champ. He didn’t believe that his lip was bleeding and licked them off. I told him that it was still bleeding and and he had me take a photo as proof. Here’s the photo. Although he’s scratched up I really love this photo – the look in his eyes, the blood on his lips and the tear rolling down his cheek. Shortly after I took this picture he and Ava wandered off with Pops to visit a cave overlooking the Fish Creek Bridge. Bushes are just one of the many hazards in the Sonoran Desert but they didn’t stop Alexander from reaching his goal – the cave.
