I have created Raising Them Green to help parents raise eco-conscious children. This website isn’t just for families who are already living green but also to help families that want to go green but may not know where to start.

The information contained in this blog will be both for children, to learn to make their own eco-conscious decisions, and parents, to make eco-friendly choices for their families. My philosophy is that if parents live a greener lifestyle, their children will come by these decisions naturally. Although the old adage goes, “Do as I say, not as I do”, we all know that children follow their parent’s lead. Lead by example and your children will grow up with the natural ability to think about the environmental impact of their day-to-day choices.

When my oldest child was born in 2001, I decided to learn what was on the labels of all of the baby products that I bought. I was quickly horrified and thus begun my Raising Them Green journey.

I now have two children and as they grow, I am glad that we’ve made many eco-conscious decisions in their lifetime. My son is even excited about the project and has started his own “Alexander’s Green Tip of the Week” video project so that other children can learn how to go green, even without mom and dad’s help.
